The event is initiated by Moringaling Philippines Foundation, Inc. (MPFI).
Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President Arthur P. Tugade expressed hopes that the congress will reach more awareness on the health benefits of moringa and the growing industry of the herbal products.
MPFI, which now has 40 members, is a network organization which serves as the moringa (malunggay) supply chain in the Philippines.
It consists of farmers, producers, manufacturers, health enthusiasts, suppliers, exporters and consumers.
MPFI Director Bernadette Arellano said Dr. Jed Fahey, a world-renowned moringa scientist from Johns Hopkins of USA, will be the keynote speaker during the event.
Fahey is expected to share the latest scientific studies on moringa.
The event will be participated by businessmen, educators, students and consumers from all over the country.

MPFI president Honorio Tan said the foundation is a non-profit, non-stock corporation and was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2009.
Tan said they established the foundation to reach out to existing moringa farms and gather more information, including statistics on moringa, following the failure of the government’s lack of information data on the health benefits of the vegetable.
Philippines has 50 hectares of moringa plantation with 1 million trees, mostly planted in Bacolod area and Ilocos region, Arellano said.
MPFI’s main objective is to promote the health and wealth benefits derived from the ‘Miracle Tree’ with the pool of information coming from scientists, universities, and practitioners.
According to Arellano, the annual moringa congress is usually held in the month of November.
MPFI is lobbying for a law declaring moringa as the National Vegetable and November as the Moringa month, he said.
Tan said they are hoping that this year’s congress, the MPFI would be able to identify and mobilize more resources and partners.
These will be used on research and development, product standardization, propagation-production, human resource development, processing-manufacturing, funding, promotion and marketing and to develop and foster a globally- competitive Moringa industry.
